Obituary for Nellie Neville
Nellie Neville, age 82, of Altus, passed away March 24, 1982, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Nellie was born October 21, 1899, in Elmer, Oklahoma. She finished high school in 1919. She attended college at Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. Nellie attended the Republican National Convention several times as a alternate Delegate. She was active in American Legion Affairs, contributed much to the promotion of Girls State, active in the Business and Professional Women's Club, Joe De Vie and Friday bridge. Nellie was a gofer and a bowler and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Altus. She was the first woman Postmaster from September 3, 1953 until February 28, 1970.
Funeral services for Nellie Neville are scheduled for March 26, 1982 at 2:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, Altus, officiated by Dr. Pat Kennedy and Dean Robinson. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
Nellie Neville is survived by her sister, Grace Neville, of the home in Altus; one brother Cecil Neville, Chickasha, Oklahoma; four nieces and one nephew, Mrs Edna Ruth McMahan, Altus Ves Neville, Chicago; Norma Dudley, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Carolyn Neville, Chickasha, Oklahoma; eight grand nieces and nephews and one great grand nephew.
