Nina Grimmett, 95, one of Oklahoma's most outstanding women, will be remembered by posterity for her public service and community involvement during almost a century of activity.

She was born on April 12, l896 at LaDonna, Texas but became an Oklahoman early in life when her parents moved to Oklahoma. She attended school at Erick and Mountain View and was admitted while still in High School to Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma. There she excelled in drama and public speaking. studying under Elsa Shaw and Frances Davis.

In 1917, she married O. B. Grimmett and they moved to Altus in 1928.

Throughout her life she chose occupations of service to others, working for months at a time to assist in a variety of events. During World War II she was a hospital volunteer, and was appointed to head the service club at Altus Air Force Base. She served two or more terms as president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Altus and the State Auxiliary.

She was president of McDowell Club of Allied Arts and was its director for many years. Mrs. Grimmett was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Robert Shaw (Bob) Grimmett, her daughter, Mary Louise Buckley,
Five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert Shaw of Lawton.

Services will be Wednesday, November 27, 1991 at 11:00 A.M. at Lowell Tims Chapel officiated by Rev. Keith Wiginton. Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery under the Direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
