Obituary for Nollie Barnes
Nollie Barnes age 77 of Altus, Oklahoma died September 9, 1969 at Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born May 12, 1892 in Centerville, Tennessee to James Walter and Emma (Jordon) Barnes. He had been a resident of Oklahoma since 1920. He farmed until 1935, then started to work for the city of Altus in 1938. He was elected Street Commissioner in 1948 and served until 1956. He was appointed Sanitation Supetindent and served until 1961. At the time of his death he was serving as the Roosevelt Elementary School Safety Patrolman. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Altus.

Funeral services for Nollie Barnes are scheduled for 2:00pm Tuesday September 30, 1969 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Altus, Oklahoma; officiated by Rev. Hazette Lemon and Rev. Lorzo Battle. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.

Nollie Barnes is survived by his wife, Florence of the home in Altus; Vera Deal, Alta Loma, California; Mae Nell Lees, Alta Loma, California; Ruth Weed, Oklahoma City; Jake, Altus, Jack, Altus; step-son Harold Worrells, Altus, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren' Jim Sunnyville, California; Jess, Tipton, Oklahoma; Clarence, Altus, Oklahoma; Henry, Houston, Texas; Vernon, Vinita, Oklahoma; Ida Lee Lynn, Altus, Oklahoma Myrtle Elders, Altus, Oklahoma.
