Norma Jean Meacham, resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma formerly of Altus, Oklahoma, left her Earthly home to join the arms of the Lord on December 17, 2023, at the age of ninety-eight.
On June 22, 1925, Elijah and Effie Kemplin welcomed their baby girl into the world. Jean was born in Lehigh, Oklahoma but grew up in Wewoka, Oklahoma where she received her first few years of schooling. Jean and her family later moved to Fort. Worth, Texas in 1942 where she graduated from Pascal High School. After finishing up school, Jean married the love of her life and the other half Lt. Col. Paul G. Meacham. They were married on December 16, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas. Jean stayed by Paul's side no matter where they went; together they lived in several states including Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, California, and Tachikawa, Japan; but the two of them always considered Oklahoma home. It was where they wanted to stay and raise their family. In their 62 years together, Jean and Paul were blessed with their beautiful family. They created everlasting memories together, smiling every day until his passing in 2006.
The Meacham family planted their roots in Altus, Oklahoma where Jean found herself attending Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Oklahoma. Jean was active in church and was an ordained elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a longtime member of the church choir and often served as a Sunday school teacher.
