Obituary for Olivia Cuevas
Olivia (Rodriguez) Cuevas, 89, of Hollis passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Olivia was born in Clairesville, Texas on July 23, 1928 to Thomas and Delores Rodriguez. She married Desiderio Cuevas the II on February 17, 1947. He passed away in 1994 after forty-six years of marriage. They homesteaded in Mathis, Texas. During the migrant working years they chose to stay and settle in Hollis, Oklahoma in 1964, where they raised nine children.
Olivia worked at the nursing home for many years. She was a hardworking, honest woman and instilled those qualities in her children. She had a talent for anything she put her mind to do.
Olivia has a very extended family that she has loved and cherished all her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her father, her mother, three sisters, one brother, and one grandson.
Olivia is survived by her nine children, Lola Arballo, William and Olga Cuevas, Olga and Richard Gonzales, Desiderio Cuevas III, Lydia and Jose Sanchez, Irene and John Gore, all from Hollis, Oklahoma, Gloria and Jose Arredondo from Dodson, Texas, John Cuevas from Plainview, Texas, and Olivia and James Barrett from Baytown, Texas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services for Olivia Cueves will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Hollis, Oklahoma with Burl Butler officiating. A private Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis, Oklahoma.
