SNOW

Omega Snow, who was 100 years old, passed away on January 31, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born to Ophelia and David Dobbins on October 14, 1915 in Winters, Texas where she attended elementary and secondary school followed by one year at McMurry State College in Abilene.

She met and married her beloved husband, Chester, on March 22, 1942 when he was stationed with the U.S. Air force in San Angelo, Texas.

During World War II she lived with her parents and first daughter, Mary Lou, in Winters while Chester was deployed to China. Following Chester"s return from overseas in 1945 they relocated to Schertz, Texas a suburb of San Antonio shortly after their second daughter, Betty, was born. The family was transferred to Orlando, Florida in the early 1950"s and again to Altus, Oklahoma in 1958 where they lived happily for over forty years.

Omega was lovingly devoted to her and Chester"s extended families as well as her Altus First United Methodist Church family. Her most treasured work was as Church Visitor for homebound, nursing home, and hospitalized church members. She touched many lives during this 23 year ministry. She also loved playing piano for the youngest parishioners in Sunday School, watching several generations of children grow to adulthood, many of whom remember her with cards on her birthday and at Christmas. Additionally, she authored a weekly column in the church newsletter called "Omega Chats" sharing membership information (family events, birthdays, births, health updates, graduations, etc.) that was avidly followed by current and past church members.

In 1998 Omega and Chester moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Center in Yukon. There she also touched the lives of many residents and staff. Helping newcomers adjust was one of her most favorite things to do. She also played piano for the Cove Singers and Koffee Klatch for many years and did volunteer mending chores for the Cove and other residents. Her spirits were always high, cheering everyone with her warmth and good will. She adopted the Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon as her second church family and actively participated well into her 90"s.

The family is deeply grateful and indebted for the loving care she received from so many caregivers at all levels of care while at Spanish Cove as well as administrative staff.

She is survived by her daughters Dr. Mary Lou Wolff, Betty Snow and son-in-law Jim Hazeldine; granddaughter Dr. Elizabeth Wolff and husband Nick Eisenman; grandchildren Greg and Jill Hazeldine, Eric and Katie Hazeldine; great grandchildren Hugo, Peri, Jared, Jonathan, Finley and Drew; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by Chester"s siblings whom she loved as her own: Creta and Doyce Jones, Dorothy Snow, Dortha Taylor, and Bailey and Nita Snow.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, M.L. and Odessa Dobbins, Helen and Eldon Young, and Frances and Glen Frohreich.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be contributed to either of the referenced churches.

Funeral services are at 11:00 am, Friday, February 5, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Altus, 317 North Main, Altus, Oklahoma (580-482-0795).
