BROWN
Ora Juanita "Neg" Brown, 94, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2016, at Grace Living Center in Stillwater, OK, with her only son, Mike by her side.
Neg was born on July 14, 1921, in Seymour, TX, to Julia and Otis Muse. She married Tom/Thomas Brown on May 6, 1941, in Altus, OK. They made their home in Olustee, OK, where Tom owned and operated Tom"s Service Station. They spent 66 wonderful years together before Tom"s death in 2008. Neg was an avid bowler for the better part of her life. She attended the WIBC Nationals for over 25 years consecutively. She was inducted into the Jackson County Hall of Fame for her service and skill in bowling. In her later years, she owned and operated Neg"s Maternity and Uniform Shop in Altus. She was also employed by the City of Olustee, as well as serving as a Pink Lady volunteer at JCMH, where she brought smiles and laughter to all those she encountered. Everyone who knew Neg thought of her as a fun-loving, energetic, and dynamic person. She was always playing cards, dominos, or cooking her famous pot roast or baking an unforgettable pie. Neg brought smiles to everyone who knew her. Her laugh was contagious and she was the neighborhood "mom" to all. She and Tom were also class parents to the 1972 graduating class of Olustee. Her house was always chilly, but her smile and hugs were filled with warmth. She was a loving wife and mother, patient and caring grandmother, special friend, and there for those who needed her. Whether Neg was dancing to the beat of Creedence Clearwater Revival or whipping up a delicious meal, she was always a joyful person.
Neg was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom, in 2008, infant son, Thomas Clinton, brother, Otis Muse, Jr., sisters, Opal Agnes Hooper, Bobbye Jo Marple, Bettye Jo Alexander, Winnie Lucille (Bill) Allen, and Susie Odessa (Cot) Alexander. She is survived by her son, Mike and wife, Danna, of Stillwater; her grandchildren, Bryan and Catherine Brown, and Michelle and Doug Mauk. Greatgrandchildren: Hayden Jones, Holden Brown, Skylar Mauk, Parker Brown, Cooper Brown and Veronica Mauk all of Stillwater.
Services for Neg Brown will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with Dick Chapman officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Olustee Cemetery.
