Ozella Pickens McKenzie passed away Wednesday morning on August 28, 2013 at the home of her granddaughter Dorthy and Lesley Kilgore in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Ozella was born June 27, 1927 to Pershon and Essie Hendricks in Kilgore, Texas. Ozella married the love of her life, LC Pickens in 1945. During her life, Ozella was a homemaker, and devoted her life to being a mother to her son Carl. She loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and caring for her pets. Ozella was the type of woman who could always hold her own in a good argument (lol).
Ozella is preceded in death by her mother and father, Essie and Pershon Hendricks; her husband, LC; her son, Carl; two brothers, Scott Hendricks and William Hendricks; one sister, Lizzie Hendricks; one sister-in-law Vergie Hendricks; one granddaughter, Rosa Lee Pickens and Vernetta Ellison. Ozella is survived by one sister, Mary Belle Davis; grandchildren, Katie Kilgore, Velma Pickens, Carl Pickens Jr., Rachel Palmer, Shane Palmer, Mary Ann Francis and James Palmer; six great grandchildren, Dayven Pickens, Donaven Pickens, Daychja Pickens, Alexus Bartlett, Heavenly Pickens, Stanley Pickens; several nieces and nephews, Martha Skinner, Ralph Davis, Elizabeth Lee, Nathaniel Davis, Sevila Smith, Mary Jackson, Linda Davis, David Davis, Robert Dale Hendricks, William Hendricks, Bertha Spencer, Wanda Hendricks, and Jonhetta Williams along with a host of great nieces, great nephews and other close friends and relatives.
A memorial service for Ozella Pickens McKenzie will be held on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 2pm at the Red River Cowboy Church with Pastor Joe Jackson officiating and under the direction of Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.
