Peggy was born on November 25, 1940, in Farris, Oklahoma to Roy and Gladys Beatrice (Flowers) Henderson. She attended school in Centerpoint, Oklahoma. She met and married a young airman, Sidney Farquhar, and the two were wed on May 24, 1958, in Centerpoint, Oklahoma, a day after his graduation ceremony. The Air Force would take them throughout the US, from California to Texas to Hawaii to New Jersey, until their last duty assignment at Altus Air Force Base.
As Sidney was busy with his duties, Peggy was busy tending to her house and taking care of their children. Once the kids got older, Peggy started her own little daycare and took care of teacher's kids. She did this for a number of years until she started working for the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. She worked in many facets of the funeral home and found a true calling of loving on people in time of need. She worked at the funeral home for more than 15 years before finally retiring.
In the eighth grade, Peggy accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She impressed upon her kids the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. She was the matriarch of her family and enjoyed getting the whole group together. She enjoyed quilting and making clothes for her children and others. Peggy loved spending time and making memories with her family. She was truly a depiction of what Proverbs 31:10 says - "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies."
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; her parents, Roy and Gladys Henderson and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jake and Elsa Farquhar.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bruce Farquhar and wife, ReGina, Kelli Farquhar, and Dustin Farquhar; three grandchildren, Jacob Farquhar, Nathan Helm and wife, Brittanie, and Arron Johnson; two great granddaughters, Charlie and Emma Helm; a great grandson, Preston Hill; her fur baby, Mary Jane; and many other family members and a host of friends.
The Farquhar family will greet friends from 7:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Gregory Hawn officiating. Burial will follow services in the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
