Obituary for Perry Emanuel McCuistion
Perry E. McCuistion, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Perry was born May 5, 1934 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to O.E. and Lizzie Lee (Burnett) McCuistion. They moved to the Jackson County area when Perry was young and he graduated from Victory High School in May of 1952. Me married Norma Gean Welch on November 3, 1955, in Vernon, Texas.
Perry and Norma lived in Olustee where they raised three sons. Perry was a member of the Olustee First Baptist Church and served on the Olustee Board of Trustees. He was a song leader at the church for many years. He loved music and played in a gospel band for several years. Perry worked as a custodian at the Olustee Public School for 13 years and built custom homes in his spare time. He was an active athlete until becoming disabled at the age of 52.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma; one son, Ronnie McCuistion; one brother, Edward Lynn McCuistion; and one sister Estelene Bales.
He is survived by two sons, Danny McCuistion and wife Elizabeth of Altus, Oklahoma, and Randy McCuistion of New Orleans, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Whitney McCuistion of Clinton, Oklahoma, Chelsea McCuistion of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Jordyn McCuistion of Altus, Oklahoma, and Kaden McCuistion of Altus, Ok; two sisters, Barbara Hughes of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Lillian Briseno and husband Rick of Lawton, Oklahoma; one brother, Donald McCuistion and wife Laverne of Cordell, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Bobby Welch and wife Darinda; sisters-in-law Patsy Cox and husband Johnny, Virginia Snyder and husband Jack, Betty Bornheim, and Judy Waller; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 10:30 am, Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Olustee with Rev. Max Gunn officiating.
