Phyllis Harris Parmer, a cherished resident of Altus, Oklahoma, and a former resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of ninety-six. On August 6, 1928, in Seminole, Oklahoma, Harold N. "Cowboy" Harris and Estelle Harris rejoiced at the birth of their daughter. She was raised and educated in Seminole, Oklahoma, and graduated from Seminole High School. Phyllis earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master's degree in education from Eastern New Mexico State University. She married John Franklin Parmer, Jr. on June 1, 1948, a love story that began at Oklahoma Baptist University.

They owned and operated the Dr Pepper bottling plant in Mangum until 1978, when they received the prestigious Golden Perky Award in 1966 for the highest volume of Dr Pepper bottles sold per capita globally.
A lifelong Baptist, Phyllis's faith was a cornerstone of her life, second only to her devotion to family. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Seminole, attended the First Baptist Church in Mangum, and joined the First Baptist Church of Altus in 1978. For her leisure, Phyllis enjoyed attending Sunday School, needlepoint, crossword puzzles, studying her Bible, singing, piano playing, dominoes, and travel. No matter how busy she was, she always made time for others, no matter how hectic her schedule got And she truly cared and loved everyone.
