R. L. (Buddy) Wilcox Jr.


R. L. (Buddy) Wilcox Jr. was born November 24th, 1924 in Granite, Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Wilcox Sr. He moved to Jackson County at the age of two and attended Altus Schools the entire 12 years. graduating from Altus High School in 1942. He was a true "Altus Bulldog". Buddy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Altus and Altus Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Buddy married the love of his life, Betty Thompson, on June 27th, 1953 in Weatherford, Texas. To this union one daughter, Pam and two sons, Tommy and Robert were born. Pam lived in Altus, Oklahoma and the boys live in Houston, Texas. Buddy is also survived by his mother Mrs. R. L. Wilcox Sr. of Altus, Oklahoma , two sisters, Mrs Mildred Glover and Mrs. Margaret Hawkins both of Altus, Oklahoma.

Buddy died May 13th, 1967 at his home in Altus. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 15th, 1967 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
