Obituary for Ralph Heard Huffer
Ralph H. Huffer, 74, passed away Wednesday December 29, 2010 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Ralph was born June 6, 1936 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Halton and Effie (Means) Huffer. He married Marlene Felty at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus on May 18, 1958. He worked for Higgs Finance Company and SIC Finance before going to work in the family business, Southern Maid Donuts. He worked there for many years before moving to Vernon, Texas where he owned and operated The Donut Shop, later to be renamed Ma's Donut Shop. In 1996, he went to work at Vernon State Hospital where he retired in 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Halton and Effie Huffer and by one brother, Bill Huffer.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Marlene of the home in Vernon; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Anderson of Lake Diverson, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Shackleton, Kimberley Shackleton and John B. Anderson; and by a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive guests in the home at 2306 15th St. in Vernon, Texas on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. They will receive guests at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus from 1:00 until 3:00 pm, Sunday afternoon.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Hilda Cavavos officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
