Ramona Sue Chapman, 86, a cherished member of the Mangum, Oklahoma community, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Born on June 23, 1937, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Bill and Pauline (Carlos) Wilhite, Ramona attended Ozark School west of Granite before graduating from Mangum High School in 1955. She united in marriage with Jim Chapman on June 18, 1954, in Hester, Oklahoma, sharing sixty-four beautiful years together until Jim’s passing in 2019. Ramona dedicated herself to serving others, beginning her career at Mangum City Hospital in 1962 and retiring in 2004. A devout member of the First Baptist Church in Mangum, she found joy in her faith and in nurturing her family, particularly her beloved son, Mark. Ramona cherished moments with her grandchildren, indulged in watching classic westerns, and avidly cheered on her Oklahoma City Thunder. She had a special relationship with her beloved Yorkie, Rowdy and together they found solace and endless amusement in each other’s company. Ramona found fulfillment in caring for those around her. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family, her community and to Jesus Christ.
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Jim Chapman; Daughter, Paula Sue Chapman; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Glen (Corky) Chapman, Ned and Betty Goode, and Bobby and Patty Bratton; and her fur baby, Rowdy.
Left to honor her loving memory are her son, Mark Chapman; Grandchildren, Karla Coleman, Trevor Nealis, and Sharli Blain; Great grandchildren, Reilly and Ethan; Nephew, Jeff Goode, and wife Terry; Great Nephews, Sidney Goode, and wife Tessa, and Joseph Goode; Great Great Niece and Nephew Bailey and Bentley Goode; and very dear friend, Kathy Mooney.
