Obituary for Rinda Aileen Groves
Rinda Aileen Groves passed away Wednesday morning, July 28, 2004 at her daughter's home in San Antonio, Texas, where she lived.
She was born September 9, 1909 in Deporte, Texas. She moved to Altus where she met the love of her life, Harley. They were married December 15, 1929. She was employed at Altus Air Force Base working at the 97th Service Squadron as a Custodial Foreman of Housekeeping Services at the Red River Inn lodging facility. She retired at the age of 85 after 27 years of service. She was well known as "Fiesty" to those who worked with her because of her working spirit.
Her hobbies were horses, bingo, football (The Dallas Cowboys) and time with her family and friends. She also loved to work. She always said "people should work hard, stay with their jobs and do their jobs well." She also said to retire while you can enjoy yourself.
She was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she loved people, always had a smile on her face and a willingness to help others, she will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harley, one grandson David Groves, parents, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by five sons, David Groves of Houston, Texas, Bob Groves of Altus, Oklahoma, Donnie Groves of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Lonnie Groves of Purcell, Oklahoma, Johnnie Groves of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Nancy Thomas of Altus, Oklahoma and Polly Karen Jones of San Antonio, Texas; one sister Margaret Duncan of Las Vegas, Nevada and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Service for Rinda Aileen Groves will be held Sunday, August 1, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanual Baptist Church with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, July 31, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
