Robert “Bob” Bratton, 77, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on March 18, 2023, in Mangum, Oklahoma. Bob was born on October 15, 1945, to Golden Dee and Doris (Hughes) Bratton in Hobart, Oklahoma. Bob graduated from Mangum High School in 1963, and attended college in Altus and OCU. Bob married the love of his life, Patty Chapman on January 16, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. He was stationed in Maine and in England. Following his military service Bob went to work in the financial sector as a banker. During his time in banking, Bob worked in Oklahoma City at Community National Bank, and First National Bank and Guarantee State Bank in Mangum. He retired from banking in 2001. Bob was incredibly active during his retirement he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, photography, flying and working in the computer business. For over twenty-five years Bob worked as a weather reporter for United States Government. He reported current weather conditions in Southwest Oklahoma helping meteorologist provide up to date weather reports keeping our communities safe from storms.
A big part of Bob’s life was to his devotion to his lord and savior Jesus Christ. He was life member of the First United Methodist Church in Mangum and for over thirty years televised the Sunday morning church services. Bob was a pillar of the Mangum community, serving as Mayor for a couple of terms, and worked tirelessly to help make it a better place to live, he will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and neighbors.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Patty; Brother, Blake Bratton and wife Charlotte; Nieces, Alexandria Bratton, Juliana Dayton and husband Kevin, and Angela Devoe and husband Seth; Sisters-in-law, Betty Goode and Mona Chapman; Nephews, Jeff Goode and Mark Chapman; As well as many extended family members and friends.
