Obituary for Robert Warren Sommers
Robert Warren Sommers, age 64, resident of Altus, passed away on the morning of December 30, 2022, at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Robert was born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1958, to Warren and Shari Sommers in Chicago, Illinois. Robert grew up with his parents and five sisters in Deerfield, Illinois. Right before Rob's senior year of high school, the Sommers family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated Central High School in 1977. Following high school, Rob followed his passion and entered into aircraft maintenance. As an aircraft mechanic, he primarily worked on civilian aircraft. During this time, he met and married his first wife, Elizabeth Ferrell-Sommers. They were married until her passing in 2015.
Robert made a trip to Altus, Oklahoma to adopt a pug, where he met Jennifer. A love of pugs brought them together and they soon married. They spent many happy hours together with their pugs in their backyard as they gardened and hung out in their greenhouse amongst their flowers and plants. Robert considered himself to be extremely lucky to have found love again and cherished every moment with Jennifer. He also enjoyed creating and building things such as a deck, a greenhouse, a pergola, and enclosed their patio to create their own backyard oasis. Their time together was too brief, but was filled with immense love and was some of the happiest days of their lives.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Warren and Shari Sommers; one sister Elizabeth Sommers; his first wife Elizabeth Ferrell-Sommers, and his four-legged children, Lola, Pearl, Rambo, Sam, and Ruby.
Robert is survived by his wife Jennifer Sommers; four sisters, Patti Cullison and husband Richard, Shari Wightman, Sue Turner, and Kathleen Luchs and husband Bob; his four-legged children, Rowdy, Scouty, Birdie, Gemma, and a terrier named Boozie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
