MORRIS
Rodney Dean Morris, age 52, of Mangum, passed away on Saturday evening, March 21, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Rod was born on March 15, 1957, to Herbert and Pauline (Hickman) Morris. He attended school in Redlands, California graduating from Redlands High School in 1975. In 1977, he married Tracey Miller. Their daughter, Marisa LeAnn, was born in 1978, and their son, Phillip Arthur, was born in 1982.
Rod moved to Mangum, Oklahoma in 1989, and he started working at Grace Living Center. He enjoyed working with the patients and listening to their stories about the "old days". Rod was an avid sports fan with OU being a favorite, rarely missing any of their football and basketball games that were on T.V. Mostly he enjoyed watching the California Angels baseball on television every night, but the happiest times of his life were spent with his family, especially his two grandchildren, Joshua Hunter and Brianna Pauline.
Preceded in death by his father, Herbert Morris, in February 1981, he is survived by one daughter, Marisa Wiley; one son, Phillip Morris; two grandchildren; his mother, Pauline Wynn; one brother Ronnie Morris, all of Mangum and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service for Rodney Morris will be held at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Russell Baptist Church with Dr. Dean Goodfellow officiating.
