Obituary for Ruben Martinez, Sr.
Ruben Martinez, Sr. age 70, longtime Hollis, Oklahoma resident, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis.
Ruben was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 26, 1950 to his parents Salvador Martinez and Isabel (Galvez) Martinez. He was born and raised in the San Antonio area and as a young man, Ruben married the love of his life Maria Garza on November 8, 1968 in Hollis and they have enjoyed over fifty-two years of marriage together. Ruben and Maria made their home in Hollis where they have resided for the last fifty years. Ruben worked most of his life as a welder. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis. Ruben loved his family and he always loved spending time with his grandchildren and he will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Isabel Martinez; one brother, Rudy Martinez, Sr.; one sister, gloria Mingura; nephews, Rudy Martinez, Jr; David Martinez; Ivory Martinez; and his son-in-law, Jose "Che" Rascon.
Ruben is survived by his wife Maria Martinez of their home in Hollis; three sons, Ruben Martinez, Jr. and his wife Corina of Lorenzo, Texas; Adam Martinez and his wife Cecilia of Lorenzo, Texas; and Andrew Martinez and Susie Gonzalez of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Lisa Martinez of Hollis; and Christina Puentes and her husband Evaristo of Hollis; two sisters, Rosa Mingura and her husband Jose; and Teresa Mingura and her husband Salvador; thirteen grandchildren, Marcos and Madelena Martinez; Marissa and Christopher Martinez; Laura Ochoa; Enrique, Isabel and Yadhira Rascon; Isabella, Angel, and Evalina Puentes; Uriah Martinez; Alex Juarez; and Gabriel Juarez Martinez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends.
Private Funeral Mass services will be held with Father Arokiaswamy (Swamy) Andarias and Deacon Ruben Martinez, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
