Russell John Weber, Sr., age 78, of Elmer, passed away early Sunday morning, April 6, 2014, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, in Lawton.
Mr. Weber was born in Elmer, Oklahoma, on December 8, 1935, to Oscar and Mary Gene (McKinzie) Hosmer. As a young child, Russell was adopted by Charles Weber, and went on to graduate from Altus High School, in 1954, and attended the University of Oklahoma. Living in Norman, Oklahoma City, Kansas and many years in Colorado, Russell married Sue Ashton in November of 1992. While in Colorado, Russell worked in the security field and retired in 2005, from the Westin Hotel. Russell then moved to Elmer to care for his ailing mother. After her death in 2008, Sue retired in Colorado and joined Russell in Elmer, where they lived until his death. Russell was always thrilled with airplanes and was an expert marksman. Loving music, he was an excellent trumpet player, playing in many Denver symphonies and bands. Russell also participated in many Altus music programs.
Russell is survived by his wife Sue, of the home, in Elmer; seven children, Charles Weber and wife Kim, Susan Roberts and husband Rick, Stevie Todd and husband Garth, Russell John Weber, Jr. and wife Nancy, Sherry Sikorski, Mary Bunker and husband Wade, all of Colorado and Ian Scott Ashton and wife Melissa of Brooklyn, New York; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Johnson and husband Paul of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Nona Westphal and husband David of Olathe, Kansas; one brother, David Weber of Colorado Springs, Colorado along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Russell John Weber, Sr. will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sangwook Park officiating.
