Obituary for Ruth Bernice Blevins
Ruth Bernice Blevins, age 90 former Altus resident passed away March 13, 1999 in Kerville, Texas. She was born October 14, 1908 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Ruth graduated high school in Clinton, Oklahoma and attended Southwestern State College.

On Aril 13, 1929 she and Sherman Blevins were united in marriage. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She lived in the Altus area since 1940. Ruth was a substitute teacher for many years and also worked for the Altus City Clerks Office from 1953 to 1973. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's Group, where she served as secretary for several years. She was also a member of the Builders Sunday School Class and quilters group. She was a volunteer at Jackson County memorial Hospital, Co-Chairman of Cancer Drive in 1980, and associate member of Eastern Star. Ruth was Kiwanis Mother of the Year in 1984.

Survivors include; daughter-in-law Francis Ann Adair Blevins, two grandsons, Lari Adair Blevins and wife Misty, Barry Vincent Blevins, and wife Dona, two great granddaughter, Emily Ann and Amanda Blevins, one great Grandson, Coleman,

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Blevins, and son Loren in 1996.

Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at Restlawn Cemetery 11:00am with Rev. Scott Spencer officiating. Arrangements are under he directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
