Ruth I. Fox
Ruth I. Fox, age 98, a resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Funeral services will be at the Lowell- Tims Funeral Home Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2:00pm under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2017 from 12:00 to 9:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
She was born in Brinkman, Oklahoma, June 29, 1919, to Fred Foscue and Josie Mae (Wilemon) Parker. She attended Eastview school system all twelve years. Here she met her beloved husband Joe Fox, they were married on February 3, 1943 in Mangum, Oklahoma. She taught in Oklahoma City School system before she moved to Altus. She taught elementary education at Washington Elementary for 35 years. Her last three years of her career was at the Altus High school teaching reading. Among her many accomplishments she was named Altus teacher of the year in 1982, and "Kiwanis Mother of the year" . But her favorite accomplishments was her grandsons Joey Neighbors and Scott Neighbors.
When asked about her hobbies she would reply drinking coffee with her friends. She was a members for 64 years of the 1st Baptist Church of Altus. She was a pink lady for 27 years at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings . She is survived by her daughter Freda Neighbors of Altus, her grandsons Joey and Janet Neighbors of Lawton, Scott Neighbors of Altus, three brothers, Fred Jr and Jean Parker of Alvord, Texas, Dewey and Margaret Parker of Edmond, Kenny and Pat Parker of Dewey, Oklahoma, five great grandchildren, Lexi and Josh Smalts, Colby Neighbors, Katie Neighbors, Daniel Neighbors, Kobe Lian Neighbors and one great great grandson expected December 2017.
