VILLARREAL
Santos Villarreal passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father May 18, 2017. She graced this world with her presence on November 1, 1945 in Elsa, TX to Juan and Juanita Contreras. She grew up in Tulia, TX but lived in various towns in the area before finally making her home with the love of her life Oscar Morales in Oklahoma. There are many words to describe her but the one that I have heard the most is "strong". A woman who mothered ten children while also playing a great hand in raising her own siblings. She was the rock of this family, the glue that held us together, a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Even with her many years of multiple health issues, she faced each day with adversity and with a grateful attitude inspiring the many people that came to know her, along with the patients that she shared so much of her time with at dialysis. Her courage and strength earned her the respect of her family and those near and dear to her heart. A woman full of encouraging words, a little bit of gossip, lots of orneriness as well as lots of laughs that she so graciously shared with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters and anyone who dropped by to listen. Her most enjoyable times were when she was with her family who she so dearly loved. Winter nights were spent playing Spanish bingo, Summer nights were spent outside enjoying her flowers while the kids enjoyed their playtime. Her love for her children and long drives became even more important as her health declined. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and wife who taught her children the importance of family, how to be strong, how to love and also how to be a lil mean!! She will be dearly missed but in our hearts there will forever be countless memories.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Juan Contreras and Juanita Carabajal, a brother Antonio Contreras, daughter Elvia Luera, a grandson Tony Esquivel, granddaughter Natalie Kali-Yuri Tovar and a son in law Mike Blonien.
Survivors include her loving husband Oscar Morales, daughters Delia Hussain of Oklahoma City, Patsy Villarreal Blonien, Nora Villarreal, Lisa Maupin and husband Doug, Monica Cox and husband James, Cindy Barker and husband Ralph all of Altus, Lucy Villarreal of Galveston, TX, two sons Jr. Villarreal and wife Kenya and Oscar Villarreal and wife Stephanie also of Altus. Three sisters Connie Contreras, Juanita Contreras of Altus and Beatrice Rivera of Colorado. 35 grandkids and 30 great grandkids as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
