Obituary for Sara (Sally) Raymond Miller
Sara (Sally) Raymond Miller, age 63, passed away at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning after a long illness. Funeral services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday morning at the Grace First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Glenn Hoyt officiating. Lowell Funeral Home will be in charge of services.

Mrs. Miller was born in Sacramento, California on February 16th, 1922. She was married to Gail Schaeffer Miller on August 10, 1943 in El Paso, TX. After the war, both she and her husband attended Peru State College in Peru, NE. Upon their graduation they were named "King and Queen" of the graduation class of 1948.

Along with managing her household, she pursued a professional career in Secretarial Administrations. In February 1985 she retired from the U.S. Government Civil Service. Her last assignment was secretary to the Vice Wing Commander at Altus Air Force Base.

She was involved in many local civic projects and organizations to include past president and past treasurer of the Jackson County Chapter of American Association of University Women and was also a member of the American Business Woman's Association. She was an active supporter of the Southern Prairie Library System. She was a member of the Grace First United Methodist Church where she held the office of Church Treasurer until overcome by ill health.

She is survived by her husband, Gail, of the home in Altus; two daughters, Katherine Eloise Hale of Altus and Jeanine Gail Berrong of Weatherford, OK; one sister, Catherine Eloise Cornelison of Loomis, CA; two grandsons, Jeffrey Paul Berrong and Michael Scott Berrong both of Weatherford, OK.

Memorial has been established at the Altus City Public Library.
