Obituary for Scott Randall Dillinger
Scott R. Dillinger, 61, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home.
Scott was born on August 23, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas to R. K. and Julie (Fream) Dillinger. He grew up in a military family, attending many schools along the way. Scott graduated from Carbondale Community High School in Carbondale, Illinois. After high school, he served in the US Navy, the Kansas Air National Guard, California Air National Guard, and the Air Force Active Reserves. He had numerous deployments with the last being active duty Air Force at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, California. Scott retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 36 faithful years of service. He married Yolanda Pelayo in Wichita, Kansas on March 31, 1989. After his retirement from the Air Force, Scott worked as a mechanic supervisor for United Airlines in San Francisco, California. When Covid hit, Scott had to search for another opportunity. He was hired on with Flight Safety at Altus AFB and worked for almost five years. Scott worked as a KC-46 pilot instructor. Scott was passionate about aviation. He always strived for perfection not only in his flying but also in teaching. He also had the following pilot ratings: private, instrument, commercial and glider. His hobbies included reading and airplane model building. Scott loved his dogs and was deeply devoted to rescuing dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda, of the home; his father, R.K. Dillinger and wife, Emma; his mother, Julie Weston and husband, Al; two sisters, Crystal Lentjes and husband, Bryan, and Holly Atwell; a half-brother, Frank Willis; and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the 97th Training Squadron Auditorium, Bldg. 87, 510 N. 6 th Street, Altus AFB, Oklahoma. Services and cremation are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Scott's name to your local animal shelter or animal sanctuary.
