Shirley Ann Barber, age 70 of Blair, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 4, 2007.
Mrs Barber was born on September 23, 1936, to E.B. and Juanita Gardner in Tucson, Arizona. Raised in Southwest Oklahoma, she married
Robert Lloyd Barber on May 18, 1956 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1995. With Robert in the United States Air Force and a member of the United States Border Patrol, they lived in many places and made many moves. They moved back to Southwest Oklahoma in 1087, to enjoy their retirement, but Shirley worked several years as an automation clerk for Airlift Training in Civil Service before her full retirement. Gardening, golf and reading were some of her hobbies, but being the "Nintendo Grandma Queen" and spending time with her family were her favorite pastimes.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Rick Howell, in 2006, she is survived by three children, Jo Brazell of Blair, Jamie Howell of Corpus Christi, Texas and Robert Barber, Jr. and wife Josie of Morristown, Tennessee; one sister, Nema Walker and husband Johnie of Blair; one brother, Bob Gardner and wife Claudine of Grove , Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Carter Brazell of Travis AFB, California, Shonda Brazell of Blair, Sarah Howell of New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert Barber and Brandy Barber of Morristown, Tennessee along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Shirley Ann Barber will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Private inurnment services will follow at a later date under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family of Shirley Barber will greet friends from 6 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
