Obituary for Sonya Williams
Sonya was born on July 16, 1965 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Robert Williams and Shirley (Fields) Williams. She grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School with the Class of 1983. Sonya attended Western Oklahoma State College before going to work for the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Sonya worked for the hospital for almost 18 years as an administrative clerk. She then worked for First National Bank - Bunker Hill Branch for 15 years and the US Postal Service in Altus for a brief period as a clerk and carrier. Sonya retired in 2009 due to health reasons but that did not last long. She volunteered her time at the hospital for the JCMH Auxiliary in the Gift Shop for several more years. Sonya loved worshiping her Lord and Savior. She was a motivational speaker and a very active member of the New Beginnings Church where she was a minister. Sonya enjoyed shopping not only for herself but for others as well. If you were at the store when she was, chances are she would stop and share the Gospel with you or give you a coupon.
