Obituary for Stephanie Lynne Flowers
Stephanie Lynne Flowers Stephanie Lynne Flowers was born March 17, 1945 at Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late H. J. and Florence C. (Petersen) Stephens. Stephanie married James Flowers May 31, 1964, in Altus, Oklahoma. Stephanie had been a resident of Altus and Jackson County since 1960. She was elected Freeholder to help write the new Charter for the City government of Altus. She was a member of That Altus Band and a long time member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. Stephanie was appointed the first woman United Store Manager by Perry Snell. She served in several capacities for United Supermarkets including, Produce Manager, Bakery and Deli Manager, Assistant Manager of Bunker Hill United for 12 years, and Manager of United in Snyder, Oklahoma for 2 l/2 years. Survivors include: her husband, James Flowers of Altus, Oklahoma; two sons, James "Jimmy" Flowers and Jeffrey Flowers, also of Altus; one Daughter-in-law, Brenda Flowers of Altus; one grandchild, Lacie of Vernon, Texas; Mother-in-law, Jewel Boyd of Altus; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Teddie McFadden of Hollister, California and Curtis and Cheryl Boyd of Edmond, Oklahoma; special friend, Patsy White of Mangum, Oklahoma. Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents; an infant child, and her father-in-law, P. W. Flowers. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday August 21, 2000 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Memorials in honor of Stephanie may be made to the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ.
