Marecek Jr.

Steve J. Marecek, Jr. passed away November 30, 2003 at Jackson County memorial Hospital after a short illness. Services will be held at Lowell-Tims Chapel, Friday December 5, 2003 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with full Military Honors under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Steve was born May 30, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Steve Marecek Sr. and Oda Katherine Holmes Marecek. He graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1939 and entered the U.S. Army that same year. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force in 1947 where he remained until his retirement in 1969. Steve served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Steve was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Altus. He was a 33rd Degree Master Mason, Covert Lodge # 11 since 1946 and Altus Chapter 49, Order of the Eastern Star.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife Blanche Opal Garrison Marecek.

Surviving are four sons; Gerald Walcher and wife, Debbie, of Wichita, Kansas, Steve J. Marecek III and wife, Lois, of Tucson, Arizona, William Dean Marecek and wife, Gloria, of Fontana, California and Gawain Willis and wife Karmen of Robertsville, MO, five grandchildren; Cara Walcher Williams, Matt Garrison Willis, Paul Mark Willis, Steven Robert Marecek and Eric James Marecek and a great-granddaughter Tiana Alise Williams. Also surviving is a brother, Kenneth Marecek of Salem, OR and sister, Margaret Anna Cox of Palm Desert, CA and his caregivers, Gloria Matthews along with a great many family and dear friends.

Family will greet friends, Thursday December 4, from 6:30-7:30pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
