Sue Cross McPhail was born February 18, 1916 to Theo and Janie Cross, longtime resident from the Ozark community. she died September 6, 1991 at the Park Lane Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was a graduate from Ozark High School. She was a long time member of the Friendship Methodist Church where she served as Church pianist for many years. She was united in marriage to Ray McPhail by his grandfather Rev. R.C. Wade July 25, 1938 at Mountain View, Oklahoma. She worked for the Jackson Clerk's office for 21 years before retiring in 1981. She enjoyed flower gardening, being a second mother to her nieces and nephews and was very involved in lap quilting. She was often the recipient of awards at the local county fair for her creative products.

Services are scheduled for 2pm Monday September 9, 1991 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Bob Feist officiating. Interment will be in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Mrs. McPhail is survived by her husband Ray McPhail, Altus, Oklahoma; brothers Roy and Mary Cross, Altus, Oklahoma; Ray and Margaret Cross, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jim and Dorothy Cross, Dallas, Texas; sisters, Ladell and Charles Woodworth, Altus, Oklahoma; Doris Collins, Roswell, New Mexico; Theola Lennhouts, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Aunt Uldine and Olen Cross, Arlington, Texas fifteen nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McPhail was preceded in death by her mother and father.
