Obituary for Teresa Carmen Ortiz
Carmen Gallardo Ortiz, resident of Del City, Ok, formerly of Altus, OK, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was 70 years old at the time of her transition to heaven.
Carmen was born on October 22, 1951 in Plainview, Texas to her parents, Refugio and Teresa Gallardo. She was raised and educated in Plainview and later moved to Altus, Oklahoma. Carmen was a migrant worker for most of her life. Most recently, she was employed as a caregiver in the home health field until she could no longer work.
Carmen was an extremely loving person, always neglecting herself to help someone else. She was a woman of strong faith and believed in the awesome power of prayer. Carmen loved attending church and sharing everything she had with others. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and playing games, but her greatest joy in life was simply being grandma. Spending time with the grandchildren and family was dearest, most important thing to her heart. Carmen loved to laugh and smile and brought light to everyone around her. She was always reaching out to check on her friends and family and made sure everyone was doing well.
On a personal level, Carmen was a very proud and determined woman. She worked hard to take care of her children and home. When times were tough and it was difficult to make ends meet, she would find a way. Her big heart, resourcefulness, and genuine love for others will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Meeting Carmen at Heaven's gates are her parents, Refugio and Teresa Gallardo; and her four brothers: Julian Gallardo, Rudy Gallardo, Jose-Angel Gallardo and Carlos Gallardo.
Left to honor her great legacy and sweet memory are her son, Frank Griego Jr.; her daughter, Lena Griego Moralez and her husband, Marcus; her remaining brothers: Benito Gallardo (Odelia), Jesse Gallardo (Priscilla), Danny Gallardo (Dianna) and Luis Gallardo; her 4 sisters: Josephine Griego, Sisilia Gallardo, Paulina Molina (Adolph) and Patsy Hillegass. her beloved grandchildren: Rayna Alicia Guiterrez, Noah Adam Moralez and Erlida Carmen Refugia Moralez; her great-grandchildren: Elijah Antonio Guiterrez & Sarea Nashelle Gutierrez; her best friend/sister: Desi Walker & family; as we all a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, friends and neighbors.
