Terry Glyn Cary, age 71, of Altus, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mr. Cary was born in Altus, on June 10, 1944, to Cecil and Sadie (Shaw) Cary. Living in Altus all of his life, Terry graduated from Altus High School in 1965. While in high school and after he graduated, he was employed at the Altus Drive-In Theater, State Theater and the Plaza Theater. He later worked at Treasurer City and was the manager of Anthonys. In 1973, he married Jerri Lynne Camp and she preceded him in death in 1987. In 1977, he began a long career with the City of Altus where he worked in the sanitation department, the building inspection and the code enforcement department, retiring in 2006. He was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church. In his spare time, Terry loved volunteering at the church, singing, collecting antiques and Indian artifacts, stock car racing, fishing, and fixing and repairing one person"s junk so he could make it another person"s treasurer. Terry loved his family dearly and enjoyed serving the Lord daily. He was loved by the citizens he served and the friends he made throughout the years.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jerri Lynne (Camp) Cary; Chris" father-in-law, Wayne Dunn, one sister, Lucille Rogers and one brother, Cecil Ray Cary. He is survived by one son, Chris Cary and wife Tanya of Altus; one granddaughter, Charmayne Cary; one brother, Roy "PeeWee" Cary and wife Marion of Duncan; Chris" mother-in-law, Charlotte Dunn of Altus and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Terry Cary will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
