Obituary for Tessie Mae Neal
Tessie Mae Neal, of Altus passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Plantation Village Nursing Home.

Tessie was born March 2, 1910, in Hopkins County, Texas, to John Thomas and Jennie Victoria (Crocker) Tillery. She married Charlie Pratt Neal November 1, 1928, in Hobart Oklahoma. She and her husband lived and farmed in the Jackson County area for a number of years. When her children left home, her husband Pratt, thought about buying another pickup. "Don't buy another pickup" Tessie advised. "Buy another Tractor" And with that, she became a full time partner in their farming enterprises.

Tessie was very active physically. She started going to the swimming pool at Western Oklahoma State College in 1979 and was a regular four times a week with few absences. At 92, she said she didn't know if she would still be waking if she hadn't taken those classed for so many years.

Tessie was not only a mother to her own children, but she mothered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as others who loved her dearly. She loved to shop[ and drive her little red car until the age of 90. Tessie was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and for the last three years attended the First Baptist Church with her daughter.

Tessie is survived by her daughter Lois Brazell and husband James of Altus, and their children, James Neal Brazell and wife Cathy of Norman, Randy Pratt Brazell and wife Marci of Seattle, Washington, and Jeffery Scott Brazell and wife Irasema of Oklahoma City; Lois and James; grandchildren, Helen Brazell, Amber Schacter, Amanda Brazell, Jessica Brazell, James Dale Brazell, II, Quinton Brazell, and Marli Brazell. She is also survived by daughter Patsy Rivera and husband Oscar of Altus and their children, Susan Caldwell and husband Thomas of Paris Texas, and H. Bennett Talley and wife April of Yukon, Oklahoma; Patsy and Oscar's grandchildren Thomas Ray Caldwell III, Taylor Rene Caldwell, Tobey Talley, Tanner Talley, Logan Talley, and Tara Talley. Five great-great grandchildren also survive.

tessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pratt, September 1, 1994, and an infant son, who died at the age of 11 months and two sisters and 2 brothers.

A family visitation for Tessie Neal will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, Dec 9, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel with Reverend Madison Clinton officiating. Interment will follow at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
