Theron Booker
Rev. Theron Booker, age 52, long time Clergyman of Altus died at the Jackson /county Memorial Hospital Thursday. Funeral services have been set for 2:00pm Tuesday at the Lowell-Tims Chapel officiated by Rev. Robert Bostic and Rev. Reggie Hamilton. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Rev. Booker was born April 24, 1941 at Cooper, Texas. He was the son of Walter and Claudia Booker. He spent all of his childhood in Altus where he attended Lincoln High School. He was well known as an Evangelist in Texas and Oklahoma until he became pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church for 12 years. He was a member of the Minister's Alliance, a 32 Degree Mason, Worshipful Master of King Solomon #7 and was Grand Recorder for the Grand Haran Consistory. He married Sherry West February 15, 1975 in Altus.
Survivors include his wife Sherry Booker of the home; children Carl, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Connie Wayne of Ft. Worth, Texas; Glen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Patrick of Louisiana; Sharon of Amarillo, Texas; Barbara Britton of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; brother, Walter Booker Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Eloyce Bradley of Altus, Oklahoma; Velma Rodgers of Pasadena, California; Billie Hardy of Chickashaw, Oklahoma; Nina Hubbard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Bobby Taylor of Altus, Oklahoma; Alma Lane and Louise Booker of Paris, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; aunt, Ethel Alexander of Paris, Texas.
Preceded in death by sisters Doris Weaver and Mae Ella Patterson
