Obituary for Thomas Edward Swaffar
Thomas Edward Swaffar, age 69 of Blair, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 23, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 27, 1935, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Thomas Jefferson Swaffar and Beatrice (Banks) Swaffar.
On December 7, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ed entered the United States Air Force. He served his country in Vietnam, received the National Defense Service Medal. Ed retired from the United States Air Force May 31, 1975 as a Master Sergeant.
On March 25, 1983, Ed and Betty Conn were united in marriage. Ed worked for the City of Altus in sign and Maintenance shop for over 14 years. He loved hunting, horses, fishing, skeet shooting and being in the outdoors. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Blair.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents,
Ed is survived by his wife, Betty (Conn) Swaffar if the home, three sons, Victor Thomas Swaffar and wife Dody of Kings Bay, GA, Michael John Swaffar and wife Nancy of Byron,GA, and Patrick Edward Swaffar and wife Tenna of Warner Robins, GA.; one step-daughter, Tina Marie Ishcomer and husband Melvin "Cheif" of Eldorado, Oklahoma and one step=son Mark Anthony Medford and wife Francie of Blair, Oklahoma; one sister Kay Swaffar of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Lupton officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with full Military honors.
The family will greet guest Friday, May 27, 2005 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
