Obituary for Tony Guthrie
Tony Guthrie, age 65 of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at his home in Mustang.

Tony was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 16, 1953 and he graduated from Central High School in Tulsa. He attended Claremore Junior College and later went to work for OG&E where he was a lineman and journeyman for well over 30 years before he retired in 2008. Tony had a passion for old cars and he was very good at rebuilding them and showing them at car shows. Later in life Tony met his soulmate Brenda Wright and after a time of courtship they married on July 9, 2010 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and they settled at their home in Mustang, Oklahoma. Tony and Brenda have treasured being a part of each other's lives for the last nine years and they always considered it a true blessing that they met each other. Tony was faithful to God and his personal religious beliefs and he enjoyed reading daily devotionals. When he wasn't fixing up an old car Tony enjoyed antique shopping and he always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Bill Guthrie and Lorene Guthrie Acuff; a son, Dean Leaf; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Atha Wright; Tony is survived by his wife Brenda Guthrie of their home in Mustang; King Brutus and Miss B. and all of his previous fur babies; son, Justin Jones and wife Danyale of Elgin, Oklahoma; brother-in law, Jimmy Wright and his fiance Valorie of Warren, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Delynn Anderson and husband Ken of Blair, Oklahoma; and Kathy Burrows and husband Bobby of Del City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Preston Jones, Kelsey Jones, Lainie Jones, Alexis Leaf, and Rachel Leaf; special niece, Amber Burrows as well as several other nieces and nephews; his long-time friends, Rick Hunter, Danny Chapin, Trader Horn, Bill Kirk, and Damon Carlton; special friend, Freddy Brown; many other family members and friends, and his OG&E family.

The family will greet friends at visitation on Monday evening, July 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus, Oklahoma with Pastor Tyler McDowell officiating.

Interment will follow at Warren Cemetery in Warren, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.

Memorial donations may be made to the Warren Cemetery Association Fund or to the American Cancer Society in honor of Tony Guthrie.
