Tony Owen Dunn, Jr., of Martha, Oklahoma, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the age of 79, at his home, after a long battle with cancer and pneumonia.
Tony was born in Inola, OK on November 23, 1936, to his parents Tony Owen and Sylvia (Pease) Dunn. He grew up in Welch, OK and graduated with the class of 1954, from Welch High School. He graduated Oklahoma State University, in 1958, with a degree in Agriculture Education. He married Lois Dean Trantham on Aug 25, 1957 and they moved to Martha where Tony took a job as an Entomologist for Scotty"s Flying Service and worked there for 30 Years. Scotty"s sold out to Hardcastle Ag-Air and Tony managed that business for 8 yrs. He then took a job with Helena Chemical Company as a Cotton Consultant where he retired at the age of 68. Tony was a rancher after retirement, which he truly enjoyed.
Tony was a member of the Martha School Board for 10 years. He helped with Boy Scouts and Awana as well. Tony loved sports and really enjoyed watching his children play and later in life really enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play in sports. Tony and Lois very rarely missed a game.
Tony and Lois were members of The First Baptist Church, in Martha, for many years and then members of The Martha Road Baptist Church when they built the new Church out on Martha Road.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Sylvia Dunn, one infant sister, Sylvia Allene Dunn, a brother, Willard Dunn and a sister Virginia Coontz.
Tony is survived by his wife Lois Dunn, of the home; son Dale Dunn and wife Karen of Ardmore, OK, daughter, Deborah Gambill and husband Kent of Mangum, OK, son, Darrell Dunn and wife Debora of Elk City, OK; one brother, Otis Dunn and wife Joann; four sisters, Dorothy Bozarth of Gadsden, AL, Ruby Way of Miami, OK, Betty Forcum and husband Steve of Fairland, OK, Shirley Moyer-Carpenter and husband Wayne of Fairland, OK; 8 grandchildren, Rodney Dunn, Jennifer Jones, Wesley Dunn, Heath Stockton, Jarred Stockton, Justin Dunn, Bobby Dunn, Ashley Luttmer, Brandon Gambill, and Brian Gambill; 10 great grandchildren, Holder, Foster, Addler, Holly, Hayden, Madison, Austin, Collin, Kasen, Kane, Brecken.
Funeral services for Tony Dunn will beat at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, of Altus.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims on Monday, November 7, 2016, from 6 until 7 p.m.
