Obituary for Vera Ann Jackson
Vera Ann Jackson, age 74 of Altus, passed away at Jackson County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 after a courageous battle of six and one-half years of ovarian cancer.
Vera Ann was born on September 16, 1930 to Lem and Mary Whitt in Altus. A life long resident of Jackson County, Vera Ann graduated from Altus High School in 1947, was a homemaker and supporter of her children's school activities for many years. She also served as a 'pink lady" volunteer for Jackson County Memorial Hospital for many years and was a life long member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. In addition, Vera Ann enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, spending time at the lake, sewing and making handmade crafts and cooking. Vera Ann was also a member of Gamma Mothers Club and spent many enjoyable hours playing Skip-Bo with her family.
On July 2, 1947, Vera Ann married Glenn Jackson of Friendship and they established a home in Altus. They were married thirty-four years before Glenn passed away on June 27, 1982.
Vera Ann was preceded in death try her husband Glenn; three sons, Mike,
Brad, and Brent as small children; her parents and two brothers, Raymond Whitt and Jackie Whitt.
Survivors include one son, Craig Jackson and wife Lynn of Altus; one daughter, Glenna Lunday of Altus; three granddaughters Jena bridges and husband Chris of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lauren Lunday of Altus and Amanda Jackson of Altus; a niece, Kay Bowers and husband Joe of Red Oak, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. The family of Vera Ann Jackson will greet friends on Thursday, March 17, 2005 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
