Verna Armstrong, age 63, of Mangum, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Mercy Health Center, In Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Armstrong was born on July 27, 1948, in Paducah, Texas to J.D. and Jewell (Barker) Ballard. While attending school in Paducah, she met Ruben Armstrong and they were married on December 8, 1964. Verna was a clerk at Allsup"s Convenience Store and a nurse"s aide for many years. The family moved to Mangum in 1997, where she lived until her death.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ruben Armstrong, of the home, in Mangum; five children, Thomas Armstrong of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, Teddy Armstrong of Hollis, Todd Armstrong and wife Diane of Mangum, Toby Armstrong of Vernon, Texas and Troy Armstrong and wife Jennifer of Mangum; one sister, Melba Allen of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Don Ballard and wife Joyce of Paris, Texas and Roy Ballard and wife Cindy of Nebraska; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A private memorial service for Verna Armstrong was held on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Cremation services were entrusted to Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
