Veta Wanda Busby, age 71, passed away at the Chillicothe, Texas Hospital early Saturday morning.
Mrs Busby was born on August 29, 1935, to Starling and Laura (Smart) Bearden in Altus. Attending school at Ozark and later graduating from Friendship High School, she met and later married Melvin Busby on
February 15, 1955, while working at the movie theaters in Altus. a dedicated Girl Scout leader, Veta worked with the Girl Scout Camps for many years, providing guidance and direction to young girls. Known as a penny pincher, she learned early in life to do any job needed to be done so she save money. Loving her family was Veta's best trait, but keeping her great grandchildren, driving them to and from school and caring for them was her greatest joy.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Leonard Bearden and Maxie Bearden; one sister, Ruby Townsend, she is survived by three children, Tina Morrison and husband Tom Macom of Gould, Linda Hall and fiancee Jerry Lynn of Vernon, Texas and Mark Busby and wife Kathy of Altus; seven grandchildren, Tina Howard of Altus, Marisa Ayers and husband Brandon of Blair, Mariah Hall of Altus, Andrea Busby of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Lexie Busby of Altus; eight great grandchildren, Laine Roberts and Sierra Roberts of Altus, Alyssa and Abby Ayers of Blair and Keely, Kloee, Kenzee Ortega of Altus; one sister, Lucille Sconyers of Poteau, Oklahoma; two sister-in-laws, Vera Bearden of Altus and Donna Norton of Mangum, one brother-in-law, Charlie Townsend of Oklahoma City and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Veta Busy will be held at 10 am Tuesday, July17, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction fof Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
