Obituary for Vicente S. Macias
Vicente S. Macias, age 47, of Childress Texas, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his residence in Childress.
Vicente was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on August 20, 1966 to Vicente Macias Sr. and Celia Saenz. Vicente graduated from Gould High School in 1984. While in school he showed livestock, was a member of the Gould FFA, and played baseball. After high school, Vicente enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. Upon returning home from the service, Vicente began his long time ambition of farming. Following in his family footsteps before him, Vicente managed all aspects of farming from harvesting to livestock, and also started M & M Weed Spraying, which he operated for ten years. He later owned and operated a farm in Greer County where he grew wheat and raised cattle. Vicente worked at American Gypsum and Capital Wire in Denton Texas as a maintenance technician before moving to Dallas in 2007 and going to work in the oil field industry as a private contractor and later in Columbus Mississippi. Shortly after becoming ill, Vicente returned home to Childress where he could be close to his family and friends.
Preceded in death by three grandparents, Jose Macias, Marcos and Manuela Saenz; one brother Miguel Angel Macias; two cousins, Guadalupe Macias and Miguel Angel Aguilar; two uncles, Abel Saenz and Gilberto Aguilar Jr.; and two aunts, Alicia Olvera and Flora Saenz. Vicente is survived by his parents, Vicente Macias Sr. and wife Janie of Gould and Celia Saenz of Childress; three children, Traci Earls and husband Colby of Hollis, Keegan Macias of Hollis and Mikal Macias of Hollis; three grandchildren, Lana Jo Earls, Brooklynn Earls and Tripp Earls; grandmother, Juanita Macias of Hollis; seven siblings, Marta S. Roblez and David Valles of Childress, Alejandro (Alex) S. Macias and wife Stormy of Amarillo, Nicolas S. Macias and wife Hallie of Quanah, Olivia S. Macias of Childress, Florinda Bearden and husband Jeff of Duke, Monica Castillo and husband Johnnie of Altus and Jerome Huerta and wife Chelsey of Altus; three uncles, Jose Macias and wife Virginia of McKinney Texas, Adam Saenz of Memphis Texas and Mike Saenz of Hollis; three aunts, Adelfa Lopez of Wellington Texas, Ana Rose Aguilar of Hollis and Ana Maria Aguilar and husband Candelario of Hollis, which are Vicente’s God Parents along with many more relatives and close friends. Vicente was a loving son, father, grandfather, and uncle.
Funeral services for Vicente S. Macias will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis with Pastor Joseph Sundar Raju Pudota officiating with interment to follow at Gould Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on Tuesday October 29 from 5 – 6 P.M. and a Rosary Service to follow at 6:00 P.M.
