Obituary for Violet Werta Reid
Violet Werta (Scruggs) Reid, age 89, passed away Saturday, June 19, 1999 at English Village Manor.
She was born to pioneer Oklahoma parents Ellis and Mittie Scruggs on October 14, 1909 in Carl, Oklahoma. She was raised in Hollis with her two brothers Harold and Orville.
Werta was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women, she was also an active member of the PEO Chapter CM and the MacDowell Club.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 1999 at 10:00 am in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Visitation is Friday, June 25, 1999, at Lowell-Tims from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
survivors include; one brother, Col. Harold W. Scruggs (US Air Force retired) and his wife Iveane of Cave Creek, Arizona; three nieces Tamara Quarelli, Patria Hjermstad, Lisan Scruggs; one nephew, Robert Scruggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis, and Mittie Scruggs; her brother, Orville; and her husband, Robert H. Reid.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice.
