Obituary for Virgil Tony Watson
Tony Watson, age 88, lifelong Martha resident, departed this life on Wednesday, June 24th, 1998 at his home in Martha. Tony was born on October 22nd, 1909 near Martha, Oklahoma to J.H. and Maggie Zora (Warren) Watson.

He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged he married Christine Riddle on February 9, 1947 in the Altus First United Methodist Church. Together they lived and farmed in the Martha community for many years. Tony was a member of the Martha First Baptist Church where he was a trustee for many years. He served on on the Martha Town Council for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, T.J., Robert and W.L. Watson; two sisters, Bessie Anderson and Orrie Watson.

He is survived by his wife Christine Watson of the home in Martha; two sisters, Jeweul Anderson of Devine, TX and Loree Levick of Woodsboro, TX; many nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, June 27, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Martha, Building Fund.
