Virginia Rose Stayton, age 77 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at her home.
Virginia was born in Washington, Oklahoma on May 28, 1941 to her parents Virgil Tyson Matthews and Jewel Mae (Maxwell) Barboa. She grew up in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma until age 12 or 13 and moved to Tipton, Oklahoma and later moved back to the Pauls Valley area. Virginia married the love of her life Edward Lee Stayton on July 1, 1977 in Altus and they enjoyed over 31 years of marriage together. Virginia and Edward made their home in Altus where she enjoyed going fishing, doing her arts and crafts, including, sewing, crocheting, quilt making, and painting. In her most recent years Virginia enjoyed playing games on her I-Phone and spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward in 2008; two brothers, Charles Eugene Matthews; and Billy Joe Borboa; two sisters, Martha Ann Rodriguez; and Caroline Lavonne Stewart; Virginia is survived by two sons, Jerry Bob Werline of Altus; and Steven Atkins of Virginia; one daughter Lana Darlene Eck of Altus; one brother, Frankie Joe Barboa of Altus; three sisters, Aconia Allen of Altus; Rosa Gonzales and husband Antonio of Texas; and Doretta Faye Hayes and husband Carroll of Altus; six grandchildren, Michille Nichole Werline of Oklahoma City; Candice Kimberly Werline of Altus; Rebecca Diane Hicks and husband Ron of Texas; Christopher Michael Bolin and wife Tina of Michigan; William Howard Bolin, III and wife April; and Brandy Eck of Nebraska; eight great grandchildren, Austin, M'Kayla, Cheyenne, Billy, Braylyn, Austyn, Alisa, and Alexis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at visitation from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 18, 2018 with Pastor David Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
