Obituary for Wanda Kirkland
Wanda M. Kirkland, 76, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, passed from
this life Tuesday, may 15, 2012, at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus with her family by her side.
She was born in Altus to Leo and Maude Loftis on April 28, 1936. Wanda attended Altus Schools. She married George Kirkland on July 22, 1954 in Altus. Wanda and George had two daughters, Kay and Pam.
Wanda worked at the Altus Cab Company for many years, later owning the cab company with her husband. She was also involved in the Jackson County Democratic Women group.
She is survived by her husband George of the home; two daughters, Kay Callen and Pam and husband Danny Smith of Altus; granddaughters, Jennifer Lechuga and children, Andrew and Brook of Altus, Jaclyn and husband Jeremy Kendell and children, Jayli and J.J. of Mangum, Emily and husband Chris Jones and children, Abigail and Jozie of Perry; special friend and caregiver, Clara Herd, of Altus; sister-in-law, Irma Loftis of Altus, Faye Norris of Opp, Alabama; and Joyce Clark of Titusville, Florida.
Funeral services for Wanda M. Kirkland are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 in Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel officiated by Jim Jones, Shannon Preston and Emily Jones.
