Wanda Lynn Duke, age 45, of Headrick, passed away Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015, at her residence, in Headrick.
Mrs. Duke was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on March 4, 1970, to Danny and Laura (Mitchell) Fort. Moving to Oklahoma, when she was eight years old, Wanda graduated from Altus High School in 1988. After one year at Western Oklahoma State College, Wanda attended Southwest Area Vo-Tech, where she received her License Practical Nurse license. Wanda later attended Draughons Business College in Wichita Falls, Texas. For the next fifteen years Wanda served as a nurse in Southwest Oklahoma, caring for many patients. In 2009, Wanda retired due to her declining health. In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed singing and listening to country western music and playing with her grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by her parents, Danny and Laura Fort, of Headrick; two sons, D.J. Duke and wife Janet of Altus and Blake Dylan Duke of Altus; two sisters, Megan Weirich and husband Bobby of Little Axe, Oklahoma and Renae Fort of Headrick; two brothers, Christopher Fort and wife Lauren of Muskogee, Oklahoma and John Wayne Fort of Headrick; three grandchildren, Leland Duke, Sadie Lynn Hamrick and Christopher Duke along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wanda Duke will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2015, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Boyd Whitehead officiating. A private interment will follow.
