Obituary for Wanda Mae Snow
Wanda Mae Snow, a cherished resident of Granite, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, Oklahoma. Born on February 16, 1940, in Granite, she was the second of five children born to Jordon and Oletha Jones. Wanda spent her formative years in Granite, where she received her education.
On March 8, 1958, at the Assembly of God Church in Granite, she married Jimmy T. Snow. The young couple soon relocated to Kingsville, Texas, during Jimmy's Navy service. Following his enlistment, they settled in Amarillo, Texas. The Snow family was blessed with two sons, Sheldon Scott Snow and Brandon Kent Snow. Wanda cherished being a mother and devoted to her family.
In the early years, Wanda contributed to the family by ironing clothes for others before becoming a keypunch operator at Diamond Shamrock, a role she cherished until her retirement. Throughout their time in Texas, the Snow family made frequent trips back to Granite, which always felt like home.
Upon retirement, Wanda and Jimmy returned to Granite, where they were active members of the Assembly of God Church. She loved Jesus Christ with all her heart and soul and was a prayer warrior for the church, her friends, and her community. Known for her kindness and unwavering support, Wanda was a beloved figure in her community. She had a remarkable ability to help others and welcomed everyone as family, forging lasting bonds with all she met. A steadfast pillar for her family, she embodied love and resilience.
Wanda is preceded in death by her son, Brandon Kent Snow, her brother Charles Jones, her sisters, Sharon McEwen, Faye Pendleton, and Claudia Gifford; her grandson-in-law Jonathan Tamarit, and her devoted husband, Jimmy Snow.
She is survived by her son, Sheldon Scott Snow, and his wife Linda; granddaughters, Carlie Underwood, Jerah Garcia and husband Andy, and Hannah Millican; one great-granddaughter Aubry Underwood, two great-grandsons Ezra and Elias Millican, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family.
Wanda Mae Snow will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for the profound impact she had on others and for being the embodiment of Proverbs 31.
The Snow family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Greer Funeral Home, Granite, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Granite, Assembly of God with interment to follow at Granite City Cemetery.
