Obituary for Wanda Sue Ewing
Wanda Sue Jennings Ewing died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at her home in
Wellington, Texas.
Services will be Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Harmon County
Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Ewing was born August 11, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas to Clifford Rogie Jennings and
Ruby Jones Jennings. She married James Sidney Ewing on April 16, 1959. They were
married 55 years before his passing in 2014.
In her early years Sue was a standout basketball player at Ron High School. She
passed the love of athletics to her children and grandchildren. It was during this time
that she worked for Hollis Public Schools as the elementary PE teacher. Sue was also
an excellent cook. She could make a mean meatloaf and her pies were to die for,
chocolate, coconut cream, pecan and cherry cream. You get the picture. Any time kids
would come to the ranch to play cards or dominoes, she would whip up a batch of
chocolate chip cookies. When hunting season was open, Sue could outshoot any of the
men on a quail hunt. She really was a woman of many talents, and we will all miss her
and the advice she so freely gave to us, whether we wanted it or not.
She was so proud of her family. When her children or grandchildren were involved in
athletics or livestock shows, she was always willing to go watch them excel in any
extracurricular activities.
Mrs. Ewing was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Donna Cleere, and her
brother Gary Jennings.
She is survived by her children, Karlyn Benge and husband Doug of Poteau, OK;
Cynthia Ewing of Wellington, TX; Dean Ewing and his wife Leslie of Dodson, TX and
Kristi Bass and her husband Jeff of Elk City, OK. She is also survived by 6
grandchildren; Sydni Benge of Poteau, OK; Cameron Benge and Rebecca Broyles of
Poteau, OK; Kynna Ewing of Hollis, OK; Kailee Lennox and husband Josh of Elk City,
OK; Gunnar Ewing and wife Leslie Ann of Dodson, TX and Jaci Bass of Weatherford,
OK
Her great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her greats always made her smile and
they each loved her fiercely. Her great grands are Hesston, Baler, and Rakely Lennox,
Knox, Blakely and Payton Benge, Kixon and Addelaide Benge, and Ty James, Sage
Riggins, and Cash Adam Ewing. They made her last few years so enjoyable,
