Obituary for Wesley Dee Webb
Wesley D. Webb, long-time resident of Mangum, OK, passed away on February 15, 2022 in Mangum. He was 83 years old at the time of his passing.
Wesley was born on April 9, 1938, in Mannsville, Oklahoma to his parents Cad and Georgia (Caldwell) Webb. He attended school in Mannsville but was compelled to answer the call to duty and joined the military. He simultaneously completed his GED while serving his country in Germany.
Having found work as a government trapper, Wes moved to Mangum in 1963. A few years later in 1966, he married Peggy Wynn in Wellington, Texas. Their fruitful union was blessed with four children. Wes had a passion for nature and wildlife. He was captivated by the essence of outdoors and held it in deep respect. He became a game warden in 1968 and remained dedicated to the job until his retirement in 2003; a true testament to both his character and devotion to his work.
Outside of work, Wes enjoyed playing dominos with the domino gang and rooting for his grandkids at their sports events. He also liked being out in nature and watching the wildlife move and develop in their habitat. Wes was an avid hunter as well. Hunting wild turkey and arrowhead were his favorites. He was also a proud member of the Shortgrass Rattlesnake Association. His wisdom, kindness and good heart will be remembered by many who knew him.
Wesley is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kelly Webb; and his three brothers: Ralph Webb, Odell Webb, and Melvin Webb.
Left to honor his warm memory are his three sons: Scotty Webb and wife, Denise; Kevin Webb, and Wynn Webb; his grandchildren: Falyn Webb, Fischer Webb, Thomas Webb, Cassie Webb, Sidney Webb, Sawyer Webb, Colter Webb, Kanyon Webb and Gunner Webb; as well as other family members, colleagues, and friends.
