Obituary for William B. Austin Jr.
William B. (Bill) Austin Jr., age 81, died Monday, September 23, 2002 at his home in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born in Granite, Oklahoma on March 20, 1921 to William B. and Alma Cabiness Austin. He graduated from Granite High School and the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business after serving in Europe with the 90th Division during WWII. He was involved for about 50 years with the Austin Clothing Stores in Elk City, Altus, Enid and Ponca City. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, William B. and Benjamin E.
He is survived by his wife Jean of the home; his son Bob Austin and wife Elizabeth and their four daughters, Bailey, Darcy, Emma and Kate of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandson, Robert B. Austin; a daughter-in-law Sue Austin of San Bernardino, California. He is also survived by two step-daughters Lynn Morris and family of New York City and Lisa Fitzgerald and family of Ann Arbor, Michigan; cousins Lucille Hammons of McKinney, Texas, John Lansden of McKinney, Texas and Joe Lansden of Simi Valley, California, Florence Kennedy of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lee Ann Bratteli of Longview, Texas and Mary Jansen of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law Janice Goode of Randlett, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 27, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the JCMH Hospice of Altus or to the charity of your choice.
